Cameron Johnson Returning for Senior Season

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – North Carolina forward Cameron Johnson is returning to school for the 2018-19 basketball season, his father confirmed to Inside Carolina on Wednesday.

“Cam decided that he wants to return to North Carolina for his senior season’,” Gilbert Johnson told Inside Carolina. “He recently underwent a minor procedure and is excited to play at UNC another year.”

UNC announced earlier in the day that Johnson underwent an arthroscopic hip procedure Monday in Minneapolis, Minn. and is expected to make a full recovery for next season.

The Moon Township, Pa. native played in 26 games and made 20 starts in 2017-18 after joining UNC as a grad transfer from Pittsburgh. He was third on the team in scoring (12.4) and rebounding (4.7).

Johnson joins first-team All-ACC forward Luke Maye and guard Kenny Williams as returning senior starters for a Tar Heel team that went 26-11 (11-7 ACC) last season.
